Holy Mass celebrated in the ruins of the Church of St. Casimir the Prince on the New Town Square in Warsaw, which belongs to the Benedictine Nuns of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Since the church and monastery became a place of refuge for the inhabitants of the capital and a point of resistance during the Warsaw Uprising, it was regularly shelled by Germans and on Thursday, August 31, 1944, on the day of the Office of the Blessed Sacrament, it was bombed and completely destroyed: most of the sisters praying during the adoration of the Sanctissimum<\/em>, four priests and about a thousand people hiding there died under the rubble.<\/p>\n
