Vicarius Christi

It seems to be one of the last cases of kissing the Pope in his feet, especially by a layman. Year 1965: during a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica one of the faithful broke the security cordon, ran to Paul VI and kissed the papal shoe. This is one of many examples which proves that the seriousness and etiquette of the papal court did not disturb the secular.
