College Captier

A Corpus Christi procession in the town of San Sebastián, in the province of Gipuzkoa, Spain (the Basque Country), in which students of the College Captier took part – a school founded by French Dominicans who were forced to leave their country following the suppression of the religious orders in 1901. The photographs show numerous altar boys wearing cassocks, surplices, and mozzettas, among them several dressed entirely in white. One cannot fail to notice that the altar servers’ shoulder capes are trimmed with white fur. Worthy of particular attention are the six thurifers marching before the Blessed Sacrament.
