Consistory of 1924
24 March 1924, a public consistory at which Pope Pius XI bestowed the cardinalitial hats upon two American prelates: George Mundelein, Archbishop of Chicago, and Patrick Hayes, Metropolitan of New York. The ceremony took place in St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, in the apse of the transept.
