Canonici parati

LatinMassWestminsterCathedralA pontifical Mass in the Westminster cathedral. In the right lower corner, in the choir, there are canons dressed in chasubles and capes. These are canonici parati. They used to wear dress corresponding to their rank in the chapter on the rochet: canons priests – chasubles, deacons – dalmatics, subdeacons – tunicles and those holding certain offices – capes.
