Papal tassels

John Paul I in a choir dress with his Master of Ceremonies, mons. Virgilio Noè, on the day he was elected the bishop of Rome. It was the last pope who wore the sash with golden tassels. In the photo he is also wearing a cassock of moire which was worn for the last time by the John Paul II some time later.
