And this is what Poland is

Polish Jesuits

stara-wies2

Polish Jesuits in Rome. Almost all of them have Roman hats called saturno, the two at the far end in the photo wearing ferraiolo, while three others are wearing double-breasted coats called greca. First on the left stands Fr. Władysław Lohn (1889 – 1961), in the years 1928 – 1934 lecturer of dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorianum University, from 1935 to 1947 superior of the Lesser Poland Province of the Society of Jesus. In April 1947, Fr. Lohn accepted the Catholic profession of faith, heard confession and gave absolution and Holy Communion to German war criminal, former commandant of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, Rudolf Höß, who was executed a few days later. He corrected the text and provided an introduction and commentary to the books of the New Testament in the last edition of the Jakub Wujek Bible from 1962.
