Benedictus PP. XVI,  Tota pulchra et pretiosa

A gift

Photo The PHILIPPI Collection

The presentation of a tiara, a gift of German Catholics, to Pope Benedict XVI, conducted by an entrepreneur and collector of religious headgear, Dieter Philippi, during the general audience which took place on May 25, 2011 at St. Peter Square in front of the Vatican Basilica. Interestingly, it was made by a Bulgarian company that produces vestments and other liturgical items intended mainly for the Orthodox. Unfortunately, it was never used.
