Requiem for Pius XII

High Pontifical Requiem Mass for the soul of the Pope Pius XII ending the nine days of mourning (Novemdiales), celebrated in the Vatican Basilica at the Altar of the Cathedral of St. Peter by the Bishop of Ostia, Cardinal Eugène Tisserant. Between the altar and the bier, there are members of the College of Cardinals, whose train-bearers hold lighted candles in their hands. In accordance with an old papal custom, a symbolic coffin at the top of the huge catafalque is covered not with a black, but with a red shroud and topped with a papal tiara.
