And this is what Poland is

Pietrowice Wielkie

Easter horse procession in Pietrowice Wielkie, 1984; photo by Krzysztof Niedenthal. The cavalcade sets off from the parish church of Saints Vitus, Modest and Crescentia to the pilgrimage church of Holy Cross. The priest is also on horseback, wearing liturgical vestments, namely a cassock, an alb, a cope and a biretta. This procession, where a processional cross, a figure of the Risen Christ and a second cross with a red stole are being carried, is at the same time a prayer for blessings for farmers and for a good harvest. During the procession, the participants ride the fields along the parish borders.
