In Paris
Deacons prostrating themselves during the singing of the Litany of the Saints at the ceremony of priestly ordinations conferred in the Paris Cathedral of Notre Dame. The future priests perform their prostration on the Le Tapis du Chœur, also known as Le Drap d’Or, that is, a massive tapestry commissioned by King Charles X of France to cover the floor of the cathedral choir after its reconstruction. The original design was later modified by his successor, Louis Philippe I, who, in the aftermath of the July Revolution, ordered the removal of part of the monarchist symbolism.
