Absolutio

Wyszyński w Rzymie

The absolution after the solemn Requiem Holy Mass for the repose of the soul of Eugeniusz Baziak, who died on June 15, 1962, Metropolitan Archbishop of Lviv for the faithful of the Latin rite and Apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Krakow. It was celebrated in the Polish church of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Rome. Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, presiding over the ceremony, is putting the incense in a thurible while sitting, assisted by a deacon and a subdeacon in appropriate liturgical vestments. The primate, dressed in a black cope, has a cardinal’s simplex mitre on his head, made of damask, with a characteristic pattern in the form of a pine cone [photo from JP2 Love].
