Pius X P.P.

His Holiness Pius X (Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, 1835 – 1914) in a winter choir dress, i.e. in a fine cloth cassock, a rochet and a velvet mozzetta edged with ermine. On the cape, there is a richly decorated stole with the Pope’s own coat of arms, namely a shield divided into two parts: the upper field, depicting St. Mark’s lion, is silver, and the lower one, blue, contains an image of an anchor on waves and a golden star above it. The whole set is complemented with a zucchetto, a sash with golden tassels and papal slippers decorated with a golden cross on the toes.
