La Lechuga

Custodia de la Iglesia de San Ignacio de BogotáThe gold monstrance from the church of St. Ignatius in Bogota, made by José de Galaz at the beginning of the 18th century. Because of the color of the decorations (green enamel) and emeralds it is popularly called La Lechuga (The Lettuce). In addition to the already mentioned gemstones, of which there are almost 1,500, the ostensorium is also decorated with amethysts, pearls, diamonds, rubies and a single yellow sapphire.
