Cathedral in Katowice

First Solemn Pontifical Mass celebrated in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice on 30 October 1955 by bp. Zdzisław Goliński. In 1981 card. Joseph Ratzinger, who liked to pray in the church, founded the golden mosaic behind the tabernacle which was transferred to a side chapel in the post-conciliar times.
